With the Oates news now public knowledge anyone think we’ve signed a striker?
Forget Messi or Ronaldo I'd rather have good honest boys in my team.

He has such bad luck with injuries. The challenge with the Stockport keeper was pretty unnecessary too.

I think so. Probably signed the deal this morning and is currently doing photos and interviews ready to be announced at 5pm.

Maybe not the thread to discuss this on.

All the best for a speedy recovery Rhys.

Wish him well and a full recovery . Any player looking to join us who reads the Facebook page and comments on there will probably think twice should they get injured. Tea and sympathy and all that.

Best of luck to Rhys in his recovery. During the three years he’s been contracted to us he would have missed a whole year through injury by the time his contract expires in July.

I think most knew this news the day after he did it.

Can only assume the club held back on it so we didn't look desperate in this window.

Hope he comes back as sharp as he can be, but it will be tough given the type of injury and lengthy rehab.

I wish Rhys well in his recovery but I also agree the challenge was unnecessary.
Yes chase down the keeper and apply pressure but to clatter into him was needless and clumsy.
He should have kept a yard or two off the keeper in order to try and block the ball from a big kick.

All if's and buts. But I would assume for it to go in that manner it was probably weakened enough that it was liable to go at some other point.

Sadly we know this player only plays less than a quarter of the season if we are lucky
Not sure how long the contract but don’t re sign him

His contract runs out this summer.
Will never forget that goal he scored against Colchester, one of the best goals I've seen at FM.

He will get an extension to his contract. Whether that be 6 months to cover his injury and rehab or a year to get him sorted.

This is the second time an unnecessary challenge has laid him off for a prolonged period. When will he ever learn. Find it hard to be sympathetic- just frustrated it’s happened again.

He's one of our own players and he's out for 9 months, how can you not be sympathetic?

Absolutely gutted to be writing this post. After the injuries I have had over the past season and half I entered 2024 feeling fit, health, and positive about the rest of the season. Yesterday I underwent surgery to reconstruct my ACL, so now the focus is on getting back to full fitness. Will be supporting the lads from the sideline for the promotion push

Really tragic for Rhys. But strikers have come back from serious injury and continued to make a career in the game. Look at Jamille Matt, as an example at our level. Don't write Oates off.
