Just taken a look at County’s upcoming fixtures and whoever gets the job has a run of games coming up soon of Stockport (H), Barrow (H) before visiting us on on consecutive Saturdays. That’s surely going to be a real test of their ability to maintain a promotion push.

Imagine on here if our manager left for another club having already lost ten games this season!! I get that his teams play good football but anyone would think he should be the next England manager the way county fans go on about him

Certainly not the messiah some of them bang on about. Yes, got them promoted out of a 3 club league. Chesterfield now doing it in a 1 club league its that poor.
In the EFL he's got them playing good football and has Langstaff to rely on up front, but they've lost 10 already and he obviously has no idea how to coach them to defend.
The offer has probably come at a good time for him. Maybe he now has his own doubts about them pushing on. Would he had taken the job now if they had still been top and not lost 7 away games out of the last 8.?

Barrow fans are worried about losing Pete Wild to Notts County.

I don't think they need to. He expects loyalty from his players as he is loyal himself. I doubt he will leave his Barrow project mid season.

Bill Dearden did this to us! Barrow has a crap fan base compared to County.

It was nothing to do with the fan base when Bill Dearden left. He left because our owner wouldn’t give him a contract and he wanted some security that he would have a job.

Billy Dearden did it due to him who shall remain nameless, you really need to dig deeper into the main headline.

I expect that is on a caretaker basis as he is still a registered player, but he has definitely been offered it.

Player/Manager's exist, we've had a few Keith Curle, Carlton Palmer, George Foster (I think).

I'm certain there's more, as certain as someone will soon name more.

Gutted he's gone. He couldn't get them to defend to save their life.

A new coach might though...

Tommy Cummings came as player/manager, although he hung up his boots pretty quickly.

Since George Foster, none of our Player-managers have played more than about 15 times (each) in total for us in the role. And one of Curle's was purely to take out Clive Wijnhard!

Jim O'Brien has 29 appearances for County this season. If it is a longer term appointment, it feels like Jim O'Brien will either need an assistant he completely trusts, or they lose a decent squad player. Dan will obviously know more about the importance of those appearances than I do.

County fan at work has heard Williams is preparing a bid for Langstaff.

Hope so.

I would be very surprised if County have not told Williams he cannot sign any County players till the end of this season as part of them agreeing to release him from his contract .

Didn’t he just sign a five year contract?

I’m sure there was a quote from Williams saying that he hopes Langstaff stays and fires them up.

That said, if another Championship is planning a big bid that will be accepted then I’m sure Swansea would have a go themselves as well.
