At the moment we play Crewe. But depends on their replay on Tuesday.

We are aware that there are different types of properties of ground in one place to another, aren't we?

Your back garden might be sandstone, whereas your mates might be clay. We do understand this don't we???

I mean, it’s still laughable/ludicrous that Clipstone played at home when we were off for the FGR game and today are playing when we’re off again.

I give up.

There aren't any games off in League 1 or higher, so does this mean that the budgets of League 2 for grounds maintenance do not meet the expectations to the league anymore. It does seem that games are being called off which would have gone ahead in the past so there seems to be a tension

Took the dog for a walk this morning and when I returned home I told the missus , no way they will be playing today , spooky.

Genuinely cannot believe that people are surprised this game is off. , I don’t necessarily agree with it being off but I am not in the least bit surprised it is.

No it's not surprising, but yes it should be on... We're supposed to be a professional football club and our pitch that we've spent a lot of money on year after year can't cope with a few rainy days. Serious questions need asking.

The pitch may well be unplayable, but the real problem is why no one can sort this ongoing problem out.

Get some massive plastic sheets, 10 pitch wide inflatable sausage things, some run off drainage. Problem solved.

Only 2 possible reasons why this game (and previous waterlogged home games) is off - either the club are not prepared to spend the money needed to lay a decent pitch or the people laying the pitch in the close season are not up to the job.

Just hope that the state of the pitch does not cost us our best chance of promotion in years.

If I was putting a theory up of why the pitch seems to get waterlogged so much, I would suggest that sand is partly blocking the drains due to sand having being washed out of the ground from leaking sprinkler pipes under the pitch.

I don't think the pitch is in any worse state than previous years. It's just what is seen as a playable pitch has changed. 30 years ago we would have played then spent the rest of the season playing on a beach. Rightly or wrongly we don't want to churn it up but want to make sure that it stays in good nick till May. I'm sure both the chairman and manager would have a say in this. I now nobody at the club called it off it was a local ref. But he would talk to the ground staff and be heavily influenced by them.

It is quite embarrassing that our game is off but Shirebrook Town can get their game on.

We should get Ted in to sort the drainage out. He did a magnificent job in the lower field.

Stop putting tonnes of sand on the pitch, cos sand granules & drainage vents don't go together, hence poor drainage

A few years ago I referee'd a Middx County Cup game at Flitwick, next to the ground I was on was another pitch which was being used by the club's Reserve side - the referee on that game came over to have a chat with me about the pitch so I went over and we immediately agreed the pitch was waterlogged and unplayable - the pitch I was on, just 25 yards away, was fine. This facility is one of the new FA funded grounds and the pitches are normally excellent. It happens.

That's fair enough Rob, my knowledge of drainage and soil is limited to growing a few veggies in my allotment but my point was we are in a greater financial position than the likes of Shirebrook so we have got to be sorting this drainage out once and for all as there is clearly an issue.
