Hope we stay in it simply as a competition to keep the likes of Williams, Boateng, Gale, Swan etc playing enough competitive games.

We can see what a basic stand looks like three sides standing only, plenty good enough for away fans,Big question would we fill the North Stand, we could have used it Sat. .
Burton have a very basic ground but good enough for league 1,
i expect a very open game with both teams hoping for a win, and Burton coming back after having a break on Sat

I think this will be a bridge just too far for us if Burton play their first team. The potential financial rewards are enough for teams to make the effort in this competition and I think they will go for it.

A close game but I think our progression will depend on penalties at best.

A 2-1 loss or 1-1 draw for me. Had we played a full strength team I think we would have had enough.

Dino won't want to lose to Nigel and Nigel wom't want to lose there either. Has the makings of a decent game.

I actually think our first 11 is better than their first 11, despite them being a league above and if they put out even a slightly weakened side I think our "reserves" are better than theirs.

I wonder if Sweeney might get a run out
I've not paid close enough attention to know if he's out injured or is just not playing much.

One thing I do know is I'd rather have our "back up" centre half in Cargill than theirs in Sweeney.

I fancy us to nick it.

Obviously I have a lot of love for Burton and a lot of Burton supporting mates but my love for Nigel outweighs that and this is one game I'd love to see them lose.

Sweeney played their last game, against Port Vale. He's the poster boy for tonight's game, see former Stags thread.

Just looked at his stats this season and he's played a lot more games than I thought, including starting every game of their best spell of results.

I'm almost certainly too harsh on him and he's clearly a better player than I give him credit for but I still can't get out my mind the howlers and the stupid free kicks he conceded needlessly.

The balls up between him and Aiden Stone (ball on the touchline) still gives me nightmares.

If we lump the ball up front he'll probably have a stormer, if we can run at him and get him on the back foot he's got a mistake in him.

If he was at Mansfield I don’t think he would dislodge our central defenders

I always rated Sweeney as a solid no frills centre half who would walk into most league 2 teams. Something obviously went wrong under Nigel and his performance levels plummeted over a relatively short period of time.

It would appear he has got his game back on track and will no doubt be very keen to prove himself to Nigel and the supporters who turned on him before he left. I won’t be underestimating him and hope he doesn’t score from a set piece.

Yet in a solid defence alongside Preston and pearce. All 3 pretty much went from hero under Flitcroft to zero under Dempster and Coughlan.

Dempster lack of fitness training was very apparent imo.

If my memory serves me correctly, Sweeney wasn't at Burton under Nigel's stewardship.

He was at Mansfield under Clough

Roughly translates as "does anyone know where I can get this for free with my dodgy firestick, rather than giving the club I support an extra tenner ?" ;)

International tv. The bbc doesn't even track this competition properly.

If he had a dodgy fire stick he wouldn’t need to be looking for international channels as it would already be on there. It’s good exercise though jumping to conclusions.

Thought we might stick one of Oates or DKD on the bench in case we were chasing a goal.

We've said this once or twice before but it would be lovely if tonight was the night Swan or Gale found their confidence and their shooting boots.

It says 3 changes from last Tuesday which was an FA cup replay, so I'm guessing it's possibly close to a first XI.
