Apologies to all Stags fans for that. 12-year-old me thought Andy King and the players must have hated me for that. I was sure they'd say something at the next home game!

My dad has just read it and has formally pardoned me, 27 years later!

Can we appeal against that pardon? 27 years is nowhere long enough for such a heinous act of utter betrayal. :D :D

We all make mistakes   I'm still guilt stricken tbh

Josh sounds very much like my kind of Stags fan. Can never have enough acceptant yet optimistic Stags fans.

A Wendy's fan said to me this morning: 'surely you don't support Mansfield expecting to win games?'
The obvious answer would be - anyone choosing who to support from a basis of winning games will never truly understand a devotion to a club. You need to scrape your knees along the depths to properly feel the highs.

Great article Josh.

I can say from personal experience having met both Josh and his dad Roy before, what genuine and brilliant people/Stags fans they are. I had a last minute ticket from Josh for the Sir Mal Benning game and met up with him to collect. Ended up next to his dad for the game and going for pre-match drinks, they couldn't have been any more welcoming as part of the Stags family.

This shines through in his article with their whole family and the generational affliction with the Stags.

Hope to see you at Donny and/or Grimsby mate!
Keep them up!

Couldn't have put it better myself, Doomy. A great article from Josh.

In my 70+ years of supporting The Stags they have been my one and only football club. And as I've had 3 spouses (so far :D ) I think that fact alone shows how much of a one club guy I really am.

Win, lose or draw The Stags are an integral part of my make up and my love for them will go with me to my grave and beyond - wherever that may be.

Lovely of you to say mate, thank you! We had a great time that day in Chez didn't we!!

I'll be at the Morecambe game so if you, or anyone fancies a pint int Sandy, I'll be around, with my dad and a few mates.

I can't get to as many games as I'd like to since we have a baby at home, and I can't do Tuesday night games at all now, as my middle kid has just signed for Stags U10s and I take her to training. Very proud of her though!

What a brilliant read, like others I really enjoyed the Barnet story. You’ve captured what being a Stags supporter means to me. Even in the most dire of seasons I’ve never been able to stop myself looking up the table, we could be stuck in the relegation zone and four points adrift of safety and I’d still be looking at 7th and thinking only 23 points off the playoffs and if we win our next 8 games we can still do this.

I will certainly be looking out for the next instalment.

Good read Paris.

November 1964 stags sold Ken Wagstaff to Hull City . The old man said that’s it no ambition I’ve done .Mansfield will never be any thing more than a 3rd /4th division club ( league 1 or 2 nowadays) . I knew he was wrong and carried on going . Almost 60 years later with the exception of 1 season in the Championship the old man’s prediction was correct. BUT I still think I made the better choice to keep going. Once you’re hooked that’s it.

Wow, that's very generous of you. The reason we have video links in there is because Leftlion can't pay for photos. Thank you! I think they like the vids, but perhaps the title photo could be one of yours. Cheers mate!

Good read Paris, but the part about Barnet shows without a doubt that you have totally embraced that part of the club's psyche of doing it 'the Mansfield Town way'.
