Olie Palmer

I realise I’m laying myself open to abuse by even bringing up the point, but I notice that OP is in the Sky Sport Div 2 team of the season so far.
I know it’s early days yet, but by the end of the season I hope we’re not regretting the one that got away.

Every striker that is rubbish here does well when we get rid, or at least it seems that way.

Another example is Lee Gregory but that’s football for you at times.

Good on him and glad he's making a career after the step up. That said he wasn't fitting in at the time and we were right to let him go.

Sometimes a player doesn't suit the style of play, club set up, managers tactics, isn't given a break or needs time to be nurtured. He could have been like this for us, but we couldn't afford him several seasons to find out

When he ran over to stags fans at orient and gave us the finger, he became a pariah imo, and to many will always be hated here, and will never get a good reception

The miss from 6 yards against that now non league team (can't remember their name now) sealed his fate forever at t'Mill.
Had he scored that day he'd have had songs sung about him for years and years, he'd have recieved a hero's welcome everytime he returned back here. The lad would now hold the title of nobility and be called Sir Ollie, just like we dubbed Liam, Mal, Cal and of course the greatest accolade of all LORD Jack :hysteria:

The crown is now being polished for the impending coronation of King Martin :D

I was there that day too Chimmers. I have to say it made me laugh when he did that. After the abuse he got from us for missing one of the worst sitters in the history of football, I couldn't begrudge him his moment.

Ollie Palmer was rubbish for Mansfield, he ran like a demented horse and couldn't score - not ideal for a "pacey forward who scores for fun"

I defend Ollie as a decent League 2 striker and a very useful Plan B off the bench but he is completely brain dead at times.

"Crawley strikers Ollie Palmer and Dominic Poleon have been stirring up controversy this weekend after a live Instagram post in which they appeared to mock the club’s training facilities, as well as some teammates."

He would have suited our bully boy tacticts of yesteryear.

He could do a job as a target man in our current style of play but there are better players out there.

He has improved since he left but that is hardly surprising with the number of clubs and coaches he's had.

He has an obnoxious streak to his character as demonstrated in our recent home game when he berated the ref for stopping the game when 2 stags defenders were down with head injuries.

He gives credence to the saying 'you can't polish a turd'
