No, it's because you walked away, when you realised promotion was looking increasingly unlikely.

He's proving again this season that he gets results.

He had us on the brink of the autos, to suggest promotion was increasingly unlikely is just silly.

People only hate him because he left. Other than Rob and a few others most fans were fully behind him right until he left.

He's unconventional, controversial and a few other things but his win record speaks for itself. Most on here are just salty because he ditched us for a bigger club.

Peterborough will be going up this season.

I agree with the above though, the majority were fine with him here but got upset and cannot let it go due to him selling us out. Get over it.

Why do I get the impression his CV of promotions are more important than anything else to him ?

Not the only reason.

His touch line antics were embarrassing.

You can dress it up any way you like Jamie. Fact is under him we DIDN'T get promotion.

FACT.

He left us because he believed we were already in the play offs and he believed he could get peterborough in the play offs. Long story short he saw an opportunity to claim he got 2 sides in playoffs and/or promoted in one season.

You cannot underestimate this guy's ego.

:coys: They will only be going up due to the millions he spends, the kind of money that some other good managers could only dream of spending. If Mourinho had no money to spend he would be an average run of the mill manager also. Money talks!!! I saw enough in one year to realise Evans isn’t as special as he thinks. I don’t think we would have gone up with him still in charge, and I’m so glad now he’s gone and DF is here. I really hope Boro choke (I think they will), as the way he left us and the timing was poor. Am I bitter? Definitely. Am I glad he went? I’ve never been happier as a Stags fan as I am now, maybe apart from a few odd years from ‘87 onwards.

Possibly. We were almost certain of promotion, or at worst a playoff, so he had that in the bank. Although Posh were unlikely to follow suit last season, the temptation to move to his home town club and work with a bigger club would have been irresistible. And it should have been two successes in two seasons, assuming Peterborough make it this time.

Absolute rubbish. Any manager would have got us to the brink of promotion with the money he spent. I hope he falls flat on his flabby belly, head butting 6 items of furniture on the way down

I couldn't give a crap about whether he wins promotions - his eighteen month record with Mansfield Town reads 0 (zero) promotions.

I don't like him because he's a loathsome individual, a compulsive liar, a specialist in antagonism and a belmer of behemothic standards.

Evans is a good manager if you allow him to spend, spend, spend. JR did just that and has got his fingers burnt by agreeing to unrealistic wages accepted by, so called, League 1 players.
We are fortunate that we have survived that era to challenge, hopefully, this season. Other poorly run clubs would probably been struggling under the financial burden Evans left the club with.
I wish him good health and extremely bad luck.

What is it he's spent at Peterborough, nearly £3m?

His successes are so keenly worked at.

Has he really spent 3 million including transfer fees received. Posh usually generate income from receiving more fees than spending so I am amazed their chairman has given in to Evans

Jamie. Please don’t presume you know why other people think the way they do.

I don’t hate ANYONE. Hatred is such a relentlessly self-damaging emotion.

However, I do intensely dislike Steve Evans. Not because he left MTFC. That is his right.

The WAY he left was indefensible.

I disliked him before that. His ridiculous touchline antics and his propensity for self-congratulation, his blatant disrespect for the club’s owner, HIS players and the fans was unforgivable.

All-in-all, I consider Evans to be an odious character - someone our club can well do without.

They deserved better.

The good thing now though is....
We are in so much more of a better place without him!!
It’s been a big learning curve for the Radfords and (hopefully) they will have learnt a lot from that!!
We are a better side now!!!

No he didn’t - he left because he saw an opportunity to manage a bigger club, who were based 5 minutes from his house. It still baffles me how most on stagsnet cannot grasp this concept. The way he did it is the reason I hate him rather than the reason he did it for.

If I was driving down a country lane and haslam stepped out , my foot would go nowhere near the brake, if fatty did, I would have to think about it (only because of the damage it would do to my front end)

I was behind him right up until he left, he was our manager and I wanted him to get us promoted. However, my dislike of him never left just because he became our manager - I guess you are probably not bright enough to realise you can dislike your manager whilst at the same time hoping he brings success to your club. I'm delighted he is no longer our manager, we are spared the embarrassing behaviour, the massive ego and actually the football we play now is much more entertaining. You call Dearden Judas, but defend Evans, you should be embarrassed Jamie.

Of course, the fact he has always spent a significant ££ amount more than clubs in the same leagues has nothing to do with his success? ;)

The sign of a good manager is one who earns promotion. The sign of a great manager is one who does on a shoestring budget and can actually get the best out of what he's got. Evans isn't even close to the latter.

He was OK, given the time, support and resources he had, but nothing more. I've absolutely no ill feeling against the whingeing puffed up gammon git :P
