LEWIS GIBBENS

Postby FROM A DISTANCE » Sun Aug 26, 2018 1:58 pm

Watched the game on IFollow yesterday and was impressed with this young man.
He has good composure, a sweet left peg and knocks a good ball forward. My initial
thoughts are that he reminds me a lot of Kevin Gray at this stage of his development
and we know that Kevin went on to have a good career in football. In my view the
youngsters who are introduced into professional football who are of a heavier build,
particularly centre-backs and strikers take longer to develop until they have reached
their full physical strength. He needs nurturing and with the right attitude and
application he should make a good player.

For a debut from an 18 year old, and against the size of opposition, he did ok.

I thought in the first 15 minutes he looked very nervous and hesitant to get stuck in and lost about 4 headers against Blissett simply because he was giving him too much space. After that he did well, got stuck in and looked composed on the ball. A good debut for the lad!

I don't doubt his potential, but the 3 at the back formation whereby they are inevitably stretched to flanks leaves the centre cruely exposed.

3 at the back very rarely works. And our inability to keep a clean sheet, plus the other issues down the flanks & in the midfield, has done nothing to persuade me otherwise.

keep up the good work Gibbo - but this formation will not help our defense.

Full of praise for t'lad. Given time he'll get better and better. Truly one of our own.
He's set his own standard and seems a level headed lad.

Oooo!!! ;)

Really pleased that Lewis got playing time as it must have done his confidence the world of good. Hoping he'll get some more game-time soon, but right now points is the silver bullet to keep the beasts from DF's door
