So what has happened to Zander?

Postby oldweststander » Sun Jul 15, 2018 8:44 am

Seems to be no news whatsoever about Zander Diamond, is he on strike?

Can understand him not being too happy but surely disappearing, unless the club are aware, will hit his pocket.

Is he on trial somewhere, maybe had an offer from China, or washing fat boys training gear, its a mystery?

I was told yesterday that he is training at Brooksby. It seems strange as the rest of the transfer listed players are still involved at the moment.

I assumed he’d been frozen out to make him move on rather than choosing to?

Double post?

Brooksby will be closer to home I suppose.

Strange though?

Probably just keeping fit. I'm sure one or two clubs would want to sign him.

David Flitcroft must think he is a bad influence if he is not even allowing him to train with the squad (or they have had a bust up). He will be going on loan to Rainworth next

I would have kept Zander Diamond over Atkinson, Butcher & Anderson.

Stating the obvious but not a like for like comparison. I’m ok with Zander going and think the three mentioned can still make a contribution. I would add Digby to that list

Butcher can’t become a bad player overnight having played a part in Millwalls promotion from L1 . Given DFs focus on data highly unlikely he’s overweight and still involved

Zander was one of the most frustrating and inconsistent players of the year for me.

I watched him return from injury and make his comeback in a checkatrade trophy game ( can't remember who against) and he was absolutely outstanding. Other times he was absolute garbage and a total liability who didn't have a clue.

I would take the outstanding Zander all day long but feel that he is so inconsistent that he can't be risked on a regular basis. I would think there must be a reason for this situation and if someone can find out what it is (attitude laziness, personality etc) they will have a very good player capable of playing league one and above. Unfortunately we don't have the answer so he must go.

Think people have short memories. The only game he was terrible in was Crewe where he was subbed, and was probably not fully fit. Otherwise, he was one of our most consistent performers. His problem was injuries and not being able to play regularly enough.

Before Evans left, which is the only way we can judge as most results were terrible after, the only game we lost that he featured in was the away game against promoted Accrington.

So we are stuck with two centre halves with long term injuries.

Can't see any more signings unless they are come on loan.

The "walk away manager's "legacy continues to burden us.

Don't really understand why we let Taft go, or looking to sell Digby, with these new revelations.

Hope Digby stays, fair utility player and squad member, will only improve given decent coaching.

I think DF will look to bring in a better defender than Digby, but is keeping him for now just in case that doesn't work out.

:?: It was said we could not transfer list Dave Mirfin because the club had a duty of care towards him.

So surely it applies for Zander Diamond as well.
