The elite under 21's are going to take our place in the Football League.
Yawn.

Not too sure about that, but we couldn't afford Akinde, yet they pay the fee for him and a big three year contract.
They also made a mint out of the competition, fact.

It has been said that the "walk away manager" tried to sign Akinde last season, but we couldn't afford him.
We rely too much on JR putting his hand in his pocket.
If some did not believe the "fake news" and supported the team in all competitions it would go some way to show JR we are doing our bit.

Maybe JR should cut his cloth accordingly then, he’s not stupid enough to rely on doing well in this absolute shambles of a competition.
Akinde was worth double and then some last summer compared to what Lincoln paid.
Lincoln argument is flawed considering we have a bigger budget than them and blew them out of the water with Walker.

Don't kid yourself. Forest are doing us a favour with Walker.
Also Akinde is a proven goal scorer at our level. Walker has not yet been tested at league 2 level.
Unlike us there is a momentum about Lincoln built on promotion and cup success. This has resulted in much more season ticket sales when compared to us.
Of course it won't. But some fans will have bought season tickets, who otherwise wouldn't have done on the back of a Wembly win and the feel good factor it brings.stagsfan6493 wrote:Amber Andy wrote:Conker wrote:Amber Andy wrote:edwinscott wrote:Making an assumption that we wanted Akinde! Didn't realise winning the checkatrade trophy meant we would get 9000 through the gate every week, we best try and win it this time

The decision surely for signing a goalscorer is to score goals. I'm puzzled, why do you think Walker was signed ?Conker wrote:Amber Andy wrote:Conker wrote:Amber Andy wrote:edwinscott wrote:Making an assumption that we wanted Akinde! Sorry mate but you are the only one kidding ya Sen.
Let’s not change the subject, Mansfield have a bigger budget and beat Lincoln to Walker (and Angol last year) so whatever your point is it does not hold up.
Why you started going on about one being proven and the other not is anybody guess - this was a discussion that had nothing to do with the actual pedigree of the players.
Amber Andy wrote:My point is that Akinde is a proven goal scorer at league 2 (64 league 2 goals).
Walker could well be a better player than Akinde ( I'm pleased we signed him ) but so far has only scored three goals at league 2 level.
The other thing that puzzles me, is how yo know what the playing budgets are for Lincoln and Mansfield.
Which brings me back to the original point, if fans decide not to attend matches it means JR has to put his hand in his pocket more often
However, Lincoln's run in the Checkatrade trophy all the way to the final earned them a small fortune and generated season ticket sales.

In terms of budgets my guess would be we are similar to Lincoln, however, where we differ is Lincoln have made the money from success on the field whereas ours comes from our owner. Taking the Checkatrade competition seriously has provided them with serious finance and means they can continue to compete with us. Pretty sure we'd rather money be generated by the club rather than its owner as there will come a time when we can no longer rely on his generosity.
