Finished 5 nil to the Stags at Retford

Bishop had a great game controlled the game....

Didn't see much of the player bad knees on a very hard dry pitch

Stags were very poor in the first half and were lucky to be awarded a penalty in the 42nd minute which Lee Angol scored. Played better in the 2nd half but were not overly impressive against a Central Midlands League side (Step 7). If I were a bookie I would be pushing the Stags' odds out after that performance. Retford United only had a couple of half chances but they defended very well. I thought Omari Sterling-James, Will Atkinson and Krystian Pearce were the pick of the Stags players.

Did anyone notice the Retford shirt same as our home shirt above the bar in their clubhouse? Will that be their away shirt for the coming season?

You'd be pushing the Stags price out on a preseason friendly? Christ. It's the first time a lot of the lads that played had done so for more than 45 minutes. We controlled the game, just lacked in the final third. Absolutely nothing to go on from a league game today, just a fitness based game.

The left back Gibbens was outstanding. He could have scored 2 in the first half as well.

Is he the YT left back 2nd to Benning that DF was on about?

Gibbo and Wilder look fine so far. Will be nice if Flitcroft gives them a run out against better opposition in t'friendlies to see whether the step up in class finds a weakness.

Thanks. First time I’ve seen any of the YT players so just went off what someone else said. Either way, he was excellent.

Slight concern that the front two of Davies and Walker have not a goal to their names in the friendlies.

Angol seems to have bagged a few.

Maybe angol with either davies or walker will be the key. Most likely Davies as he wears no.9.

Gibbens could be a regular. Where was Danny? Butcher looked overweight and garbage.

Rose has a toe injury, which has been well-reported. CJ called it a broken toe-nail!

Its pre season fgs. Worry 10 games into season if they haven’t scored
