I don’t rate Atkinson to be honest, it’s alright working hard but want players in midfield to create something or protect the back four.

not sure what he brings to the party next season & i seem to remember reading JR told the manager not to keep him, i guess he must have agreed to reduced money & so time will tell if the he made the right call on him.
Doesn't matter what players Radford wants to keep or buy, he doesn't run the football team, Flitcroft does.
Flitcroft doesn't pay their wages though....

Clearly not, but it doesn't matter if the guy paying the wages likes or doesn't like the player, it's the managers decision. If it isn't, whats the point in him being there?

or maybe he observed the same petformances we did last season, i just don’t see what position he thinks he will cover, he just looked a yard short of pace & didn’t see the midfield engine there to run the middle of the park.
time will tell

Just read Flitcrofts interview. Sounds like Arkinson might have requested to be transfered initially?
“We had a chat at the end of the season, me and Will, and you just never know in football.
“I said to Will at the end of the season, if there’s something out there for you that you feel is for you, then we’ll have a look at it together.
“I left the door open all the time. We had a fantastic chat, very open and very honest. He wants to be in this environment and knows he’ll thrive in the environment. He certainly wants to stay and I want to keep him. He’s a great pro.

Why managers pick certain players, what they see that others (like us) don't see, is a constant mystery.
How else would raheem sterling keep getting picked, he can't be blackmailing every England manager, surely?
my one regret is...i have no regrets!

I listed on the Portugal thread who is there. Pasted below. Digby and Diamond are not there. At least if they are, they have been well-hidden!

Agree Digby should have been part of the plans.
Maybe always more to it than meets the eye.

When asked if any other players will come off the transfer list. DF talks about Omari Sterling-James impressing him and now having a real chance... was he about to be put on the list too? Also take it that any of them on the list are being kept and given a chance first.

What’s happened to Diamond?
I’ve not seen him on any footage on Stags player either before or now from Portugal.
We do look light at CH even if Nathan Cameron proves his fitness I would expect another signing as cover

Diamond is done, I don't expect to see him back i a shirt.
It appears the other lads which were transfer listed are trying to prove their worth

The Diamond situation is strange and somewhat mirrors the George Pilkington mystery of a few years earlier.
Apart from the Crewe home game (everyone was poor for 30 mins that day) he has been outstanding and we should be building our defence around him as captain. Obviously this is not DF's view of things so something must have happened behind closed doors (like it does at all clubs).
I would wager Diamond is mulling over several offers and would not be surprised to see him leave in the next few days (maybe going to a club like Oldham, Bury, Northampton again, Swindon etc etc)

Decent performance from Atkinson at Park Avenue last night. Played at wing back, looked very fit and got up and down well and set up both of Angol’s goals (good link play for first and header back for second).
Competing with Hayden White for that role if we play with wing backs.
Looks like he’s earned coming off transfer list.
Digby to follow suit soon? Didn’t have too much to do last night but led Wilder and Gibbens well and played some good balls out of defence.

Atkinson is never a wingback against league two clubs he would be left standing, seems a nice bloke & played ok last nite, however wingbacks have pace, sadly Will doesn’t
he is never going to bomb up n down the line is he?

Looks like Atkinson is holding his own in pre season
It looks to me that although some of the others remain on the list it’s likely DF will include them on merit
Only exclusion appears to be Diamond
Any intel kicking around at the games today ?

I thought Will Atkinson was one of our better players today Paul.
Zander Diamond is apparently training at Brooksby.
