I take it you'll be enjoying the World Cup in less than a week's time. French invention.

Precisely. Jules Rimet, of 'still gleaming' fame, also invented the World Cup and thus had the first trophy named after him. But hey, what do the French know about football?

You mean the French who have actually won 3 tournaments but don't bleat on about them every ten minutes.

I watched him from his videos, to his first game? at Alfreton and all season. If you don`t think he was a joke, do you think Spencer was Pele?

I think you missed the point, Mukka. Sorry, i mean Ricky's dad :P

Why be so sensitive over innocent jibes around Miller, but happy to put the boot in on Angol? Sounds a touch hypocritical to me....

Angol is 6 years younger and has roughly a 1-in-3 strike rate for us, where as Miller was 1 in 8 (although appreciate he was getting fitter). I just don't see much comparison when you look at that.

There are some 'lazy' strikers who don't seem as interested but will pop up and get a goal, and there are others who can run all day but produce nothing for their efforts. If we can't have the perfect combination of both attributes i'll settle on stats any day. Every striker can be a gamble, but there's nothing to suggest Ricky is currently worth anything more than being 3rd or 4th choice striker on minimal wages.

Happy to hear why Miller Snr thinks his son should be top of our shopping list ;)
If i look in pain it's because i'm thinking

Lee Angol isn't nearly as bad as some reckon. Although nobody should be surprised by his status as a Stagsnet target.

He's probably not helped by his near mythical price tag and by being Evan's replacement for a club legend.

He has got a languid style and seems below average in the air (for a big lad), but there is ability there for someone to unearth. Given the chance.

The problem is with Angol, is he's the worst type of striker on the eye for your typical lower league fan. He's got a lazy style of running (although, he isn't lazy, there were games last season where he ran himself into the ground. Luton away is one example), he's not great in the air, and he's a flair player. That's not what most fans want at this level.

He is as bad as some on here reckon. He does have some ability, just we only see it for 5 minutes in every 1000. Youre also confusing languid for lazy. He simply isnt bothered.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Or in other words, can we please have a bigger opportunity to slag off a lad already on the books. Nice.

Angol was being utlized in totally the wrong way under evans. Hes not a target man. He said in his first interviews he likes to run off the shoulder. He didnt have that level of service when he played and still scored 13

i think it will be irrelevant anyway tbh as he won’t be a starter it will be Rose plus another, so as a bench warmer is really how we should be judging him

Angol has one thing on his side, he is young, yes he had a poor season but was also poorly managed by Evans. It's make or break for him this season, lets hope this spurs him on. As for Miller, no thanks, as already said by many, didn't see anything at all to spend any sort of money on him, let alone the baggage that goes with him.
