Morecambe v Yeovil commentary

Postby Martin Shaw » Fri Dec 29, 2017 10:00 pm

commentary here if you're interested from BBC Somerset
https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_ ... rset_sound

(it should be blocked but they have messed up the blocking)

0-2 at half time, Yeovil ahead. One thing that made me chuckle, the Morecambe media had told the BBC Somerset that Vadaine Oliver is a striker who doesn't score.

Hard to fathom how Morecambe played so well against us, albeit without good enough finishing, and were then so woeful on Boxing Day against Notts County and again tonight at home to Yeovil.

Good result. Pressure increases on the sheeple.

Love Ellison except when he's playing against us. Wish we'd had moved mountains to get him in his prime.

Martin, as the man who knows everything, two questions.
1. Why play this match on a Friday night?
2. How many Yeovil fans where there?

you're too kind!
1. I never heard a reason given anywhere, so I would simply guess that they wanted to even out the gap between matches (3 days from Boxing Day to Friday, and 3 days to New Years Day). Sensible from that aspect. The BBC Somerset commentators did mention that Yeovil would have an advantage for Monday having had more time to recover.
2. The commentators did not give that out, nor is it on the official report from either club. But not many.

It also means that Yeovil will not have the expense of an overnight stop.

That’s why teams ask for long away trips to be on Tuesday rather than Saturday.
We might win against Accrington next time.
