Saltergate is a small housing estate now.

My guess is they will win tomorrow and some of their diehard fans will have renewed hope. But the bad results will continue and drop by drop fans will start to flow away.

Gates will seem high, (the good PR in recruiting MA and his rhetoric meant they sold a lot of season tickets), for the rest of this season. If they don't get in the playoffs then next season bump, the season ticket numbers will fall.

Most of their fans seem to be behind MA, despite the hoofball and poor results, mainly because they don't think they can get anyone better. Some even think that in some of their games they have been unlucky to lose, there must be an opticians in Cheaterfield that sells the most effective rose coloured specs in the universe.

So far MA rhetoric has given them hope. From now until Christmas is a crucial time for our non league neighbours.

It’s easy to forget how bad it was down there!!! I never want us to go near it again. They’ve got a battle on just to survive. And long may it continue!!!

It always makes me wonder when successive managers fail, were they so bad or are the conditions so bad/toxic? Do the business management ever let the truth come out?
I’m guessing the answer is a bit of both or maybe a lot in this example. Many league clubs could implode like this but I’m not sad it’s them after the way they lauded it over us, both our conference years and their relative successes like their short league one success.

I read on Bobs Board the other day a few of them saying they've been unlucky. It's that kind of mentality that will keep them down there. Teams turn up as clear underdogs, but raise their game week in week out against the bigger clubs. We found that out to our cost for a few seasons.

Until they realise they have to work even harder than normal and not just turn up to beat these so called little clubs, they'll continue to fail.

They really are the gift that keeps on giving at the moment. Long may it continue.

“Unlucky”. Got to love it. A few days ago they were saying how crap they have played. They are dead and buried at this rate!!!

Staveley Miners Welfare (Step 5) knocked out Jack Thomas and Liam Hearns' Basford United 3-1 in the FA Cup last night. Zayn Hakeem started for Basford along with Jack Thomas. One more win for Staveley and then they can knockout the Spireites.

A 0-0 in the rain to second bottom will feel like the most miserable experience in football.

Those sort of days still gives me chills.
