Winger CJ Hamilton has signed a new incentive-based two-year deal with the Stags following an impressive season to date, we are pleased to announce.

The 23-year old, who signed from Sheffield United in the summer of 2016, has recorded nine assists in 39 appearances in all competitions this term.

The club also retains an option to extend the contract upon its expiration.

Brimming with delight after putting pen to paper, Hamilton told http://www.mansfieldtown.net: “I really am thrilled to be signing a new deal.

"I want a lot more goals and assists for the team, as well as continuing to work hard on my defensive duties.”

“The fans have been brilliant and the staff have been so welcoming. This club is like a family to me.

“I think I can only get better. I want to produce a lot more for the club.”

Hamilton becomes the first player to sign a new deal under manager David Flitcroft, of whom the winger said: “He’s been helping me so much on and off the pitch, putting an arm round me when needed. His management towards me has been tremendous.

“Since the new gaffer has come in he’s helped me so much. We do extra one-to-one sessions. He’s getting me to the byline and makes me pick out areas. He shows me which areas I should be hitting, and shows me the different options.

“Ever since he’s come in he wanted to work with me. We’re out there two or three times a week now just me and him.

“This contract makes me even hungrier to do well for the team. I want a lot more goals and assists for the team, as well as continuing to work hard on my defensive duties.”

Mansfield Town winger CJ Hamilton was today delighted to sign a new two year incentive-based contract, which he felt would be a great motivator to try even harder.

Signed and sealed before the side departed for tomorrow's crucial game at Yeovil, Hamilton said: “It feels great. I wanted to get it done and I am so glad it's over the line now. I can focus on the next couple of years here now.

“I am grateful to be offered a new deal. They have noticed my hard work and I want to now repay them over the next two years.

“It's been unbelievable playing for Mansfield. I can't even explain it. The fans have been brilliant and all the staff here have been so welcoming.

“It's like a family here to me now, so to extend my stay here a couple of years is great.

“I think I have come on leaps and bounds since I signed and I can only get better as well.”

He added: “When I first came in they didn't really see much of me.

“But this last season I've played a lot more and if I keep going I think I can produce a lot more for the club and hopefully take them where they want to go.

“The new manager has been helping so much on the pitch and off the pitch, telling me how good I can be if I get that final little bit done.”

Hamilton is happy to sign an incentive-based deal.

“When you are producing things on the pitch, the club can notice it and it will give you more confidence to do things. That's good in the long run for me,” he said.

“It makes you more hungry to go and do things on the pitch whereas on a different contract you just get happy to be paid. This one makes you chase things and you will work your socks off to do it.”

Looking forward he added: “Next year I want a lot more goals and assists and to help out the team a lot more going forward as well as still being able to do my defensive jobs.”
