30th October 2016 13:29

Club statement
mansfieldtown.net, 28th October 2016

The club is very disappointed to learn of alleged racist and homophobic chanting by a minority of Mansfield Town supporters during last Saturday’s match away at Luton Town.

We strongly condemn such actions and will take a zero tolerance approach to anyone who is discovered to have made racist and/or homophobic chants.

The club takes such matters very seriously and is currently liaising with Luton Town Football Club to establish further details of the allegations.

Any offenders identified can expect to be banned from all football stadia for a minimum of three years.

Mansfield Town Football Club continuously promotes equality and the club wishes to reaffirm its strong message against discrimination of any type whether by reason of race, colour, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability or age.

Mansfield Town Football Club is an inclusive family orientated club where everyone is made to feel welcome.

The club remains absolutely steadfast in its determination to tackle discrimination of any type for the benefit of fairness and justice in both society and football and to uphold the good name of Mansfield Town Football Club.

Furthermore, the club is fully supportive of the excellent work that ‘Kick It Out’ implements throughout football and will be staging a ‘Kick It Out day’ later this season.
