After netting his first goal of the season at Blundell Park, Palmer’s confidence is high ahead of this weekend. The 24-year-old spent the second half of the 2014/15 campaign on-loan at Grimsby from Mansfield. While he shone for the Mariners, he struggled to make an impact at Field Mill and could receive boos from the Stags supporters on Saturday. “It will probably be a different experience playing against Mansfield, I get a bit of stick from their fans where as these supporters at Grimsby appreciated me a lot more,” said Palmer. “I loved coming back to Blundell Park and playing on Saturday. I owe a lot to the football club, they boosted my experience and I really enjoyed myself here.” When Mansfield visited Brisbane Road in April 30, Palmer netted the only goal of the game three minutes after half time. He ran straight over to the away fans and celebrated his header in front of them, and is hopeful of doing the same this weekend. Orient’s victory at Grimsby was their second this year and it has boosted the confidence of the squad. Palmer added: “The Mansfield fans stopped singing after about 50 minutes once I scored so we’ll see if we can do that again, but maybe a little bit sooner. “The result at Grimsby does give the boys confidence and it’s important to get back-to-back wins and climb up the league table. If you can win at places like Grimsby, a tough place to come, it’s brilliant.” After giving the Orient supporters something to cheer about at Blundell Park, Palmer is aiming to do the same again on Saturday. He added: “It’s always good playing at home, our fans have been really supportive and we’ve got to try and give them something back. I think we did that at Grimsby with the away fans and hopefully we can do that again this weekend.” ----------------------- |
