The 31-year-old is set to enter his third season at One Call Stadium, after signing on a free transfer from Fleetwood Town.

He made 31 appearances last season, scoring the Stags' final goal of the League Two campaign away at Accrington Stanley in a 2-1 loss.

“My intention was always to sign,” said McGuire. “I have enjoyed these last two years. We’ve had our ups and downs but I’ve loved every minute of it.

“I’m looking forward to the new season ahead and being involved in the gaffer’s new project."

Manager Adam Murray said: “Jamie has built a real bond with the club.

“He acts like the glue in the dressing room because of his personality and character. He came to the forefront last season during some tough times. He is a good presence in our community, and adds what we’re trying to do in the local community.

“He offers grit and determination and wants to be a part of what we’re doing here.

“Jamie’s a good person and he cares, and that’s a big thing for me,” he added.
