GREENACRE HOPING FOR REST CURE
Evening Post, 11 April 2002
MANSFIELD hotshot Chris Greenacre will be resting for the remainder of the week to ensure he is fit for Stags visit to York City on Saturday.
Greenacre, who scored his 28th goal of the season in Tuesday"s 2-1 victory over fellow promotion-chasers Cheltenham, has aggravated a knee injury.
However, he is adamant he will be fit for the game at Bootham Crescent.
Lee Williamson (dead leg), Bobby Hassell (hamstring) and Adam Murray (ankle) are all receiving treatment but there are high hopes they will all be fit for Saturday"s crunch clash
Greenacre said: "I got a bit of a knock in the game against Scunthorpe a few weeks ago and it just had a bit of a recurrence on Tuesday, but it's nothing major and I should be okay.
"I turned on the ball but my leg got taken away. There was no point carrying on because we have still got important games to play and I wanted to be fit for the York game."
Greenacre's goalscoring exploits have earned him a place in the PFA's Division Three team of the season, but he believes being left on the bench for the 5-3 defeat at Luton last Monday has done him good.
He added: "Being left out gave me a kick up the backside. I think I reacted to that and things are going better now.
"I didn't get that many chances but it's great to be back in the goals."
Tickets for the final league game of the season, at home to Carlisle on April 20, have now gone on sale.
There will be no admission without a ticket.
