Turnbull and Pilkington back at Macc

Jul 02, 2014, By Mike Glendinning

Two players sign up for more at the Moss Rose

Also returning to the Moss Rose is veteran defender George Pilkington.

The 32-year-old made his debut for Macc on loan from Mansfield Town in February and scored two goals in his first two games.

He extended his loan stay in March and completed the campaign with the Silkmen.

He was released by the Stags this summer.

“Bully is as good a midfielder as there is in this league,” said Askey. “He showed last season that he’s got a lot of ability and he was a very good player for us last sesason.

“As for George, he’s a calming presence at the back, he’s a ‘proper pro’ and he puts his head in where others are afraid to put their feet.

“Both of these have got the right attitude for me, they’re lads who keep working hard and I’m happy they’re signing up again.”
