Cox: Everyone has a part to play

Read more at http://www.mansfieldtown.net/news/article/cox-everyone-has-a-part-to-play-1045164.aspx#7PdFYCHKUZXGCCls.99 Full 11 minute video on StagsPlayer here: http://www.player.mansfieldtown.net/latest-news/article/3453852 Our boss was speaking ahead of tonight’s reserve team match against Rotherham United at One Call Stadium, which begins at 7.00pm. “I’ve probably spent more time with the players who haven’t played, than those who have played recently,” said Cox. “I’ve got players such as Junior Daniel, Lindon Meikle, Louis Briscoe, Ross Dyer, Jake Speight and others, who are all ‘chomping at the bit’ to try and get in the side. “It’s hard sometimes because they have to be patient, but something will give at some point, whether it’s a loss of form, an injury or a suspension. “That’s when somebody has to come in and grab their opportunity.” He continued: “There has been interest shown in our players over the past week; the players have been notified, but they’ve told me they want to play for this football club. “Our dressing room at the minute is quite infectious. Going down to Newport last Friday, our team spirit was excellent and that can ‘move mountains’. “I thought it epitomised our mindset at the minute that (Martin Riley), even though he was a little bit incoherent when he received treatment (at Newport), wanted to carry on. “The players are working hard and they’re starting to believe in themselves. We’ve tweaked a few things, but not done too much differently. “I think League Two gives you a little bit more time to play football, but other than that there isn’t a great deal of difference." Our boss also had praise for striker Jake Speight, whom has impressed him during the past week. “The last seven to 10 days is the best that I’ve seen Jake, in terms of mindset and his mentality,” said Cox. “What I’ve said to him is ‘Get your head down and get in our first team’. I want as many good players in my squad as possible. “In the behind closed doors match against Notts County, he looked very sharp, but more importantly, it is the best I’ve seen him since he signed for the club.” --------------------- |
