Mansfield's new assistant manager John Gannon said Keith Curle had been a "leader on the pitch" during his side's 4-0 demolition of Blackpool.
Curle was recently appointed player-boss and earned his first victory as manager with a stunning performance against Steve McMahon's side.
"It's only a start but we are delighted with the three points," said Gannon.
"Keith made a good debut. He was a leader on the pitch and showed them the way. He got them playing and going forward.
"We've only been in charge 10 days or so but Keith has being saying how it's going to be and wants standards, passion and commitment. That's what the players have given us."

STEVE McMAHON REACTION

On the 4-0 disaster at Mansfield Macca said,
"I am very disappointed Chris Clarke sells his jersey, we were getting back into the game, it just seems to happen it's the way we are, we get complacent when we are defending even when it's one nil we should defend better, Simon has been beefed for the fourth, Phil Gulliver was beaten in the channel for the third, it was very very poor. I have no personnel to change it if anyone could tell me what to do I magic somebody, a left sider or a centre back, we finished with four midfielders across the back four, we have a big striker playing playing right midfield and the other striker playing on the left hand side, where do we go from here? I thought we were the better team until the sending off. They have only had one effort at goal and that was very poor from our point of view, the referee was spot on there was no foul it was a goal, and it makes a change to say well done referee. Michael wasn't strong enough or brave enough, what has happened to the old fashioned keeper who come out and batter them?
“You can tell I am very low, and the players should be as low as me, I am devasted and gutted walking off, I heard the supporters shouting, it's not nice but there is nothing I can do about it, I will try and bring some new players in this week I need to especially with Chris Clarke being shown red he will miss three games.
