Stags move on from Lions to Tigers
chad.co.uk, 10 July 2013

After a 0-0 draw with Naxxar Lions in their opening pre-season friendly, Mansfield Town flew home from a successful pre-season training camp in Malta last night in time for tonight’s game at Worksop Town (7.30pm).

Two different XIs are expected to play in each half against the Tigers.

The games then come thick and fast with Nottingham Forest at the One Call Stadium on Saturday, a trip to Chester on Tuesday and the visit of Peterborough next Wednesday.

Boss Paul Cox (pictured in Malta) will also send a youth team to Ollerton Town tomorrow (Thursday) while Monday’s proposed friendly at Buxton is now off.

The club will also stage an open day this Sunday (11am-3pm), with free admission.

Cox continues to look for strikers and Chad understands one of his targets is former Alfreton hitman Liam Hearn, whose Grimsby Town career was dogged by injury last season, but who has attracted interest from some massive clubs.

Fans are reminded that all matches at One Call Stadium are all-ticket and the new ticket office will close at 2.30pm on Saturdays and 7pm on midweek games for the four friendlies.

Supporters must be in possession of a valid match ticket before attempting to enter One Call Stadium as no cash will be accepted at the turnstiles under any circumstances. Allocated seating will also be enforced, meaning supporters must sit in the designated seat printed on their match ticket.

Pre-season match tickets purchased in advance of matchdays, are priced at £10 adults and £5 concessions (senior citizens, U16s and students). If bought on matchdays, they will cost £12 adults and £6 concessions.

Police have confirmed that the highly-anticipated local derby at Chesterfield on Saturday, 28th September will now kick-off at 1pm. And Stags have already made some cup ‘progress’ as they were one of 16 clubs this week handed a first round bye in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Cox has also agreed to play a friendly fixture at Carlton Town on Tuesday, 13th August (7.30pm)
