A spokesperson for the SSA, which is run entirely by volunteers, said: "We would like to thank the hundreds of SSA members whose membership fees have continually enabled us to go the extra mile to assist the club financially to this extent. Thanks also to all fans who regularly buy our popular match day badges and other fundraisers which have allowed SSA to support the club with a record investment of over £26,000 this past 12 months.

“The investments have assisted with the purchase of items such as the new TV gantry which allowed our full Ian Greaves Stand to be shown on Worldwide television against Liverpool and during our Championship winning season finale. Pitch equipment and various signage has also been purchased along with upgrading of fire doors and new plasma televisions in fan concourses. SSA are also proud to financially support the upkeep and repairs of the Quarry Lane drum and proud to sponsor club staff, club events and merchandise including the upcoming Champions DVD.

“SSA are also very proud to have organised at least one family friendly coach to EVERY competitive match we have played away from home during our non league days and again would like to thank all those who have travelled with us.”

Joint Operations Director Tina Broughton said: “This is a very generous donation by the SSA, which will head towards the cost of an extended tunnel on Quarry Lane as well as equipment for our media department.

“We would like to thank SSA and all of our supporters’ groups for their ongoing support of the club.”
