GRADI: WATKISS DEPARTURE WILL SEE A DIFFERENT GAME
5th December 2002 10:42

crewealex.net, 03Dec2002
Crewe boss Dario Gradi admits that Saturday's FA Cup clash with Mansfield Town will be a completely different affair now that Stuart Watkiss has left the club. Keith Curle will be taking over at Field Mill and Gradi knows that Crewe will be facing new tactics after the Stags conceded nine goals against the Alex in our previous two meetings. After conceding 53 league goals, surely a former defender will concentrate his efforts on getting his back-line right? “Yeah, I would think so,” says Dario. “I think it will be a different game now that Stuart has left the club because he was very attack-minded with his tactics. I liked the way they played the game. I enjoyed watching them and they have some decent players there. I like the look of Christie, he was outstanding against Colchester and I think he would be in my team if we had him. They are a exciting team but they shipped too many goals and that is why they are bottom of the Second Division. We really don't know at this stage what is happening with Colin or Andy. It may well be that the new manager wants to have a look at Andy before deciding what to do next, but he still has time to have a look at Colin. I know that if I was at Mansfield and Crewe were interested in one of my players, I would take a look at him first." At the moment Colin Little is back training with Crewe while Andy White is back at Field Mill. Neither player can play in Saturday's FA Cup clash at Gresty Road.
