SACKED Stags boss Stuart Watkiss this lunchtime paid tribute to his coaching staff at Field Mill.
Watkiss, axed along with assistant Neil Richardson, led Mansfield Town to promotion last season after taking over in January when Billy Dearden quit the club for Notts County.
Watkiss, who still had two and half years of his contract to run, said: "Neil and myself would like to thank all the coaching staff, medical staff, and all other ground staff for their continued support and advice during our spell in charge.
"We genuinely wish Mansfield Town FC well in the future."

Watkiss axed - who will take over?
CHAD website
MANSFIELD Town FC manager Stuart Watkiss was sacked this morning.
Watkiss and his assistant Neil Richardson were axed by chairman Keith Haslam after Saturday's 4-2 defeat Port Vale left them adrift at the bottom of Division II.
The club has said it is urgently working to find a quick replacement.
There are strong rumours that former England defender Keith Curle will take over, either as manager or player manager.
It is expected that the Stags will unveil the new boss tomorrow.
However, other names being mentioned in connection with the vacant job are former Chesterfield manager John Duncan and ex-England star Chris Waddle.
