STAGS look set to be without midfield ace Gary Roberts for at least a month after injuring his ankle in training this morning.

Roberts is to have an MRI scan on the injury and boss Paul Cox said: “Gary will be a big loss.

“He went over on his ankle and it ballooned up. We thought he has broken it at first but now it looks more likely it is ankle ligament damage.

“But he will probably be out for at least a month.

“Hopefully we may get one or two back fit after tomorrow's reserve game at Wrexham.”

Mansfield Town weight up appeal over Green red card
chad.co.uk, By John Lomas

MANSFIELD Town are considering whether or not to appeal against star striker Matt Green's red card from last weekend.

The 30-goal hitman's straight red in the bruising clash at Ebbsfleet will see him suspended for three matches.

But, although, he is adamant Green is innocent, Stags manager Paul Cox is also aware that failure in the appeal would see an extra game ban added.

“I have watched the DVD of the incident so many times now and there is nothing in there to say he flung out an elbow,” he said.

“It was two lads grappling with each other as they fell to the ground and both the referee and linesman were 10-15 yards away.

“We are still considering an appeal, but we need to make a professional decision on if we can realistically win it. Otherwise it costs money and a possible extra game ban.”

The necessary paperwork was officially completed this morning.

The 19-year-old has signed a one month loan deal with the Leicestershire club and links up with Stags' defender Jobe Shaw at the Dovecote Stadium.

Holland becomes the second player to be sent on loan in quick succession after defender John Dempster made a one month move to Tamworth last Friday
