The Stags yesterday announced they had agreed an undisclosed fee with Oxford United for Matt Green which will allow the striker to join the club on a permanent basis in January.

And they have also re-signed teenage striker Louis Moult from Stoke City on a month's loan, with him going straight into the squad for today's cup tie at Field Mill.

Green has attracted the interest of a number of clubs after scoring nine goals in 16 starts since his loan move in the summer.

Manager Paul Cox said: "We have had preliminary talks with Matt. The chairman and I are due to sit down next week with him with a view to finalising personal terms."

Meanwhile Moult, 19, has returned after impressing last season, when he scored two goals in three starts with the Stags.

Cox added: "Louis has caught my eye on a number of occasions when I have been watching Stoke City's reserve games.

"He scored two good goals on Wednesday when Stoke played Port Vale and will provide extra competition for places as well as complimenting our current strike-force."

Cox hopes their FA Cup tie will act as a benchmark of their early-season progress.

"It is a good game to see how far we have come since the start of the season. They are a good bench mark for us," he said. "It is one of the toughest draws we could have had at this stage."

The 18-year-old becomes the first player from our newly reformed youth academy to become a member of Paul Cox's senior squad.

Somes currently leads the goalscoring charts in the youth central division by netting nine goals so far this season. He recently joined Rainworth Miners Welfare on loan, however, his contract with the Wrens has now been cancelled to allow him to play in tomorrow's FA Cup match.

Director of Youth Steve Hymas told http://www.mansfieldtown.net: this afternoon: "It is fantastic to see one of our future prospects make it in to the first team squad. It is a big boost to our academy, which is going from strength to strrength.

"Credit should also go to Mark Hemingray and Mark Lynk who have worked hard on developing Adam, along with all of our other players in the academy.

"This move to promote Adam to the first team shows that our work is being recognised by Paul Cox, which is very pleasing."
