Meanwhile, midfielder Kyle Nix has returned to Mansfield after his trial with Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam.

He is set to go straight into the squad for today's friendly against Tranmere Rovers as Steven Istead and Matt Somner are battling knocks.

Boss David Holdsworth said: "It doesn't look as if they are going to follow up their interest, but we're pleased to have him back,"

Stags manager David Holdsworth has slammed rumours that he and Kyle Nix fell out before Nix went on trail at Sparta Rotterdam. He said: ""Rumours like this make me very angry and are poisonous. Kyle, like everyone else, reported for training on time and there has been no fall-out between us. Rumours like that are awful and people start believing them. They are unnecessary.

Kyle Nix return to England

Kyle Nix will today leave the training camp of Sparta Rotterdam. The left midfielder played yesterday in the second half it against Westerlo, but the coaching staff sees him as an immediate strengthening of selection. Nix afternoon will return to his club Mansfield Town. James Downey of the placement period is extended. The defender made a good impression on manager Jan Everse and he wants him in the coming days to keep the selection.
