Paul enjoyed a wide and extensive playing career spanning almost two decades and will mostly be remembered for his playing days at Portsmouth in the early 90s and Rushden & Diamonds, where he spent three years.

Paul is a former Premiership winger having played under Gordon Strachan at Coventry City. He also represented Jamaica in the 1998 World Cup finals.

He will oversee our entire youth operation, of which an announcement will be made on its restructuring next week.

The UEFA A Licence coach will meet with our youth team players upon their return to pre-season training on Monday.

We are also delighted to confirm that a youth team will be competing once again in the North East Conference next season (part of the youth alliance).

Said Paul: "I was really interested in this position as soon as I knew it became vacant.

"The youth players can expect me to be fair and they should know I am here to give them my time and advice."

Chairman Andrew Perry said: "I am delighted with this appointment. Paul is a tremendous guy with an infectious desire for developing young players. I am very confident that Paul will help bring through our youngsters to have the best opportunity for pulling on the famous amber and blue shirt."

Manager David Holdsworth told http://www.mansfieldtown.net: "Paul is of excellent character and will work to a very high professional standard. The players, I am sure, will enjoy their day-to-day work under his guidance."
