"I wish to apologise to the manager, Board, my fellow colleagues and the Mansfield supporters for any offence that may have been caused from an expression placed on a social networking website.

"It was not meant to be offensive and has been observed in the wrong manner.

"I sincerely apologise for any offence caused and will choose my words carefully in future.   I have accepted the club's disciplinary measures following my meeting with the Manager and Chairman.

"I hope to move on from this and concentrate on my footballing career."

Skipper says 'Sorry'....
http://www.mansfield.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=198028

Mansfield Town skipper Luke Foster was forced to apologize this week, after labelling the club 'a shambles' on his facebook page....

It was revelead that during the club's announcement that they would be letting eight players leave the club during the summer, Foster had his status on the social networking site, as 'this club is a shambles'.

Now, in a Gordon Brown election moment, he has been caught out, and he has been forced to issue a groveling apology.

A statement from Luke Foster on the official website reads:

'I wish to apologise to the manager, Board, my fellow colleagues and the Mansfield supporters for any offence that may have been caused from an expression placed on a social networking website.

'It was not meant to be offensive and has been observed in the wrong manner.

'I sincerely apologise for any offence caused and will choose my words carefully in future. I have accepted the club's disciplinary measures following my meeting with the Manager and Chairman.

'I hope to move on from this and concentrate on my footballing career.'

Of course, as in moments like this, you have to feel Foster is sorry only for being caught out, and not actually for his initial feelings towards the clubs treatment of his fellow players.

We think Foster won't be long in leaving the club himself.

Perry was surprised by skipper Luke Foster's Facebook comments about the club being a 'shambles' for which Foster has now apologised.

"We all have our own opinions," said Perry "I don't know why Luke Foster made those comments. I think he was just frustrated by certain aspects of what we and the gaffer want from him.

"I don't think his last three or four games were anything to sing home about and he went home with a flea in his ear and maybe didn't take it very well. But as captain he has got to stand up and be counted."
