FANS LAUNCH 12TH STAG TO BOOST PLAYING BUDGET
23rd March 2010 15:19

Press release
22 March 2010

SUPPORTERS OF Mansfield Town have launched a fund which will raise money and increase the manager's playing budget.

The fund, named 'The 12th Stag,' will produce extra cash for David Holdsworth's transfer kitty, with all donations exclusively heading towards transfer fees or player salaries.

Chairman Andrew Perry said of this exciting enterprise: "People can give money to the Town's Football Club, as with the rest of the club, with full transparency, knowing where that money will be spent.

"If there are groups or individuals out there looking at arranging fund raising events at any time to boost the 12th Stag, do not hesitate to contact the club, who will fully support and endorse it with the backing of the playing staff too."

A delighted David Holdsworth added: "The 12th Stag is a wonderful opportunity for the fans to back their football club. Oxford have done it successfully, like other clubs, in recent years. I have enjoyed the wonderful assistance of many Stags' groups in my tenure and long may it continue. I hope the fans will buy into this new initiative, especially when things are tight within clubs and support such as this is much welcomed."

Donations can be made be made by anyone logging on to the 12th Stag website, http://www.12thstag.org or you can donate by cheque, made payable to '12thStag' to: 12th Stag, PO Box 6430, Kirkby In Ashfield, Notts, NG17 8RA.

It is hoped that various fundraising events will soon be set up for The 12th Stag. All monies raised will be known by logging on to the website.

The 12th Stag will be overseen by its new committee consisting of four people: supporters Paul Nyland, Ben Mason and Andy Gallagher. Mark Stevenson will also be on the committee, representing the club.

All four supporters' groups have backed the initiative:

OLLERTON STAGS SAY:
Ollerton Stags believe having an individual bank account for funds to be given purely for transfer fees, loan signings or players' wages is a fantastic idea. Although the 12th Stag is largely aimed at individuals, we'll be asking OSSC members to vote on how we can help support the cause. This may be through a lump sum being donated annually, or a percentage of money raised handed over. The 12th Stag is another great example of Mansfield Town FC and its fans working Together to plan for the future success of the club and we wish the scheme well.

STAGS FANS UNITED SAY:
Stags Fans United are delighted to give any support that we can to the 12th Stag. We must thank the OxVox trust for their support in helping those associated with 12th Stag in developing the scheme. We are confident that this scheme can help the club in attracting new players and to develop the playing squad we have at Field Mill. We call on fans to support this by going to http://www.12thstag.org and giving what they can afford to this excellent idea.

STAGS SUPPORTERS' ASSOCIATION SAY:
The 12th Stag is a fabulous way to really help the owners progress our club on the pitch. Please support this initiative and donate as much as you can afford. Every donation will make a difference.

PLEASLEY STAGS SAY:
Anything that helps David Holdsworth create a squad capable of challenging could only be good, whether it be this season or next. By making donations towards The 12th Stag, supporters know which area of the club their money is being used.
