Burgess faces New Year bets date with FA
The Non-League Paper, 20 Dec 2009 MANSFIELD's on-loan midfielder Andy Burgess is set for a New Year date with the FA to answer two charges of illegal betting. Burgess was given an extension to his original deadline of Dec 4, but an FA spokesman last night confirmed: "Andy Burgess has replied to his charge. His hearing will be in January at a date still to be set". The NLP understands that Burgess' charges relate to placing small amounts of money on positive outcomes for his club and events during the game, like backing himself to score the first goal, for example.
