The 28-year-old has joined until Christmas but is expected to sign until the end of the season in the January transfer window. Challinor cost the Us £15,000 when he signed for them from Rushden and Diamonds in 2008, but he has only scored twice in 35 appearances at the Abbey Stadium. The Northampton-born player does, however, possess a good scoring record at two of his previous clubs, Exeter and Aldershot. Boss David Holdsworth is hoping Challinor can add some firepower from central midfield to go with that offered by forwards Rob Duffy Kyle Perry and Jake Speight. "He comes with a good reputation and is a good person who I feel will be a great addition to our squad," he said. "I feel that we have established a good platform so far, but the onus has been on two or three players to score our goals. "We have had some vital goals being chipped in from the defenders and wide players. "But now we have another player who can complement our attacking threat." Challinor is available for tomorrow's clash with Eastbourne Borough. He made five appearances on loan at Forest Green Rovers earlier this season. -------------- |
