Mansfield Town manager David Holdsworth has won the Blue Square Premier "Manager of the Month" award for October.

The Stags consolidated their position in the play-off places with an unbeaten month. League victories over Forest Green, Altrincham and Eastbourne were followed by a hard fought home draw with last season's third placed side Histon.

Holdsworth's team also progressed to the First Round Proper of The FA Cup with a second success over Altrincham during the month.

"Since I have been at the club I have had wonderful tremendous support from everyone.

"This award is about the hard work of the players and the backroom staff and the players deserve great credit.

"I train the players and work them hard with my staff and the credit goes to everyone involved."

The Stags were unbeaten in October, picking up three league wins, plus a victory in the FA Cup against Altrincham.
Only a draw at home to Histon on Saturday halted their winning streak.
Last month Mansfield scored 11 goals and conceded only three, consolidating their place among the chasing pack.
Holdsworth said: "I would like to dedicate this to the players and supporters.
"It is an honour to receive the award but it is my players who should take the plaudits. They have been magnificent.
"The supporters too have backed us to the hilt and I dedicate this award to them also.
"The support from the chairman and the board has also been immense and I am grateful for their backing," he added.
Chairman Andrew Perry said: "I am delighted for David and it is thoroughly deserved."
