Stags will pay recognition to the services of cult hero Kevin Bird later this month by renaming their executive lounge in his honour.
As of Wednesday May 2009 27 – the date of the unveiling – the lounge will be known as the Kevin Bird Suite.
Central defender Kevin made 463 appearances in 11 seasons for Mansfield between 1972 and 1983, scoring 65 goals.
Still living locally, he is fondly remembered by Stags fans and played a big part during our two promotion seasons in the 1970s.
Bird will become the second player to be honoured in the space of a month, following in the footsteps of Sandy Pate – who had the supporters' bar re-named after him.
The unveiling coincides with the Champions League Final between Barcelona and Manchester United.
Supporters are invited to come along to the evening, where they can watch the game on our large plasma screens in the company of manager David Holdsworth.
The Stags boss will be act as a live TV pundit, along with some of his players.
For £15 per person a four-course meal is also available.
Only 100 places are on offer and all bookings must be made in advance.
Book on-line at http://www.stagsshop.com/events or by telephoning the club on 01623 482483.
