Jervis, a former Stags defender, has worked as a coach at Field Mill for nearly three years.

Meanwhile Town have hired Gareth Holmes, who was a player at Ilkeston under Stags manager David Holdsworth, as a first-team coach.

MANSFIELD Town youth team coach David Jervis has been suspended by the club.

A hearing will be held at Field Mill on Thursday and no-one at the football club was able to comment on Tuesday on the situation 'because of Employment law'.

There are no details as to why the coach and former player has been suspended.

A club spokesman said: "We can confirm that youth team manager David Jervis has been suspended on full pay for seven days pending a possible disciplinary hearing."

He added that no further comment would be made.

In a totally unrelated matter, the Stags on Tuesday announced that Gareth Holmes had joined the coaching staff working with the first team.

He was released as a player by current Stags manager David Holdsworth at Ilkeston Town and has since taken his coaching badges.

The former Ilkeston Town midfielder will officially start at Field Mill on May 11.
Boss David Holdsworth was on the same UEFA coaching course as Holmes.
"I have brought Gareth in to work with coaching the first team and also in assisting in other coaching matters," said the Stags manager.
"People talk about an assistant manager but I don't need one because I love doing my job.
"But I feel a coach will benefit the players and along with the other staff we have here, we now have a great unit.
"I released Gareth as a player at Ilkeston, so it shows there are no grudges. He is a great lad and I like his honesty.
"His commitment is excellent and he won't have any problems involving himself in to the dressing room. He will be a cracking person to have around."
Meanwhile, the Stags' injured players are all making good progress.
Alan O'Hare (calf), Matt Somner (knee ligaments) and Rob Duffy (thigh) have been stepping up their rehab work.
Louis Briscoe (ankle ligaments) is considered slightly further behind.
Holdsworth added: "With the injury Louis has it can usually take five to six weeks.
"But we will be monitoring him over the off-season and make sure he comes back ready and doesn't lose his fitness levels."
The Stags confirmed today they have suspended youth team manager David Jervis from his duties.
The reasons for the move have not been made public, but an internal hearing is expected to be held at the club on Thursday.
A club spokesman said: "We can confirm that youth team manager David Jervis has been suspended on full pay for seven days pending a possible disciplinary hearing.
"No further comment will be made."
