Evening Post:
Holdsworth ready to blood Stags youngsters
Tuesday, April 21, 2009

MANSFIELD Town's youngsters could be given a chance to impress in the final two games of the season, says boss David Holdsworth.
The Stags take on Altrincham tonight and Stevenage on Sunday, both at Field Mill.
They have little to play for in terms of league position, but Holdsworth is determined his side protect their unbeaten home record under his charge.
Even so, he may use the opportunity when the pressure is off to blood the likes of Connor Higginson, Grant Ryan and Tom Naylor.
"We have a few injuries and I may give Connor, Grant or Tom a go. I will try a few young players if they deserve the opportunity," said Holdsworth.
"But at the same time I have to balance that with the fact I want to win these games at home and finish the season well.
"As Marco Pierre White says, 'If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen', so they have to be ready.
"It is massive for us to win these last two home games in front of our fans; we have got our pride.
"If we could finish like that it would be fantastic, but we have to prepare right."
Mansfield are waiting on the fitness of Louis Briscoe (ankle ligaments), Curtis Woodhouse (groin), Matt Somner (knee) and Daryl Clare (back).
Briscoe and Woodhouse came off against Woking, while the other two players were not fit enough to be involved.
