HISTON NOW 31 MAR. OXFORD MOVES ... PROBABLY
12th February 2009 13:15

The Stags game at Histon has been re-arranged to Tuesday 31 March. Full details at mansfieldtown.net, here.

Meanwhile York beat Kidderminster in the FA Trophy on Wednesday night (amazingly 13-12 on penalties after all 11 players on each side scored). So York should be in FA Trophy action on 21 February and thus York will not be able to play Oxford on 21 February. It had been previously agreed that in this scenario, the Stags game at Oxford, currently scheduled for Tuesday 24 February will be moved to Saturday 21 February. But ... York's opponents in FAT have still not played the previous round as Havant&W v Crawley has been postponed 4 times I think (at the last count). Now scheduled for Monday but if it was to keep getting postponed ...

York/Mansfield explained
Posted on: Thu 12 Feb 2009

We have had a number of requests from supporters to clarify the situation regarding our fixture on Saturday 21st February.

Our scheduled opponents, York City, won a dramatic penalty shoot out in the FA Carlsberg Trophy last night against Kidderminster Harriers meaning that York now meet either Havant and Waterlooville or Crawley Town.

Those two teams have been badly affected by the weather and have had their tie called off four times already, which has a knock on effect on our own fixture list.

Havant and Waterlooville will play Crawley next Monday (16th February), with the winners due to travel to York on Saturday 21st. The FA Trophy takes precedence over the Conference fixture list, and our scheduled Blue Square Premier fixture at York would therefore be postponed.

Mansfield Town have previously agreed to move our league game (scheduled for the following Tuesday) forward to avoid a blank Saturday.

After talking to York, Mansfield and the Conference to try and find a practical solution, the following scenario exists:

If there is a positive result for either team in the Havant and Waterlooville v Crawley tie on Monday then the winners will play York City on Saturday 21st and Oxford United will play Mansfield Town.

If the Havant and Waterlooville tie is postponed or ends in a draw then Oxford United will play Mansfield Town on Tuesday 24th.
