WADDINGTON WINS THE GAME

FTYBR FC 2 KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS 1
16 AUG 2008

FTYBR FC got their IFA season underway with a creditable win over a strong looking Kidderminster Harriers side.
Goals from Gary Bird and Phil Waddington gave the Mansfield side a narrow 2-1 victory played on Ashfield School.
Manager, Steve Hartshorn had a plethora of players at his disposal with seven substitutes. One of which saw a debut for Callum Pinnick, son of Stagsworld commentator Nigel.
In a tight game both sides created chances with the Mansfield side slightly edging proceedings.
It took 24 minutes before the deadlock was broken with Gary Bird being in the right place at the right time to finish from close range.
The rest of the first half saw FTYBR FC defend well and strike the woodwork twice.
The game looked as if it would be heading for a narrow 1-0 win for the side from Mansfield until with just 13 minutes to go, the visitors scored an equaliser.
However, just two minutes later and FTYBR FC were back in front with a well taken goal at the end of a flowing move, by Phil Waddington.
The visitor's heads then dropped at Ian Hoult wasted two great chances to put the home side further in front.
Overall it was a pleasing performance that manager Steve Hartshorn was more than happy about.
β€œThe good thing as well as the result was the way that the team played. They showed great heart to get back in front after conceding the equaliser late on. I was impressed by quite a few today and even though it pains me to say it, Captain Dave Baxter really lead from the front. I also thought that young Pinnick did himself proud and will no doubt be one for the future. I just need some of the other players to bring along their kids and I can get a youth team going!”

FTYBR FC's next fixture could be a home game against Shrewsbury Town on the 30th August, although the team are awaiting confirmation. Other than that, the next definite game is the short trip to Ilkeston Town on the 6th September before Stags home game against Eastbourne. Coach's, cars, motorbikes and the odd skateboard are available if any supporters fancy coming along to support the team.

Team line up;
