Mansfield Town sign 4 new players
CHAD.co.uk, 08Aug08

STAGS manager Billy McEwan took his tally of summer signings to 15 when four players agreed terms on Friday afternoon.
Strikers Anthony Robinson and Aaron O'Connor, midfielder Tom Shaw and keeper Luke Herriott will all go into the squad for tomorrow's first League match of the season at Ebbsfleet.

They had been on trial at Field Mill for the past couple of weeks and join two other players - Alex Jeannin and long-term loanee Paddy Gamble - to have signed on the dotted line this week.

Nottingham-born former Grays striker O'Connor had limited Football League experience when he was released by Scunthorpe after three substitute appearances in 2003.

However, the pacy O'Connor (24) was a Gresley Rovers hot shot, struck 80 goals in 127 games with Rovers and won their Player of the Year twice in as many seasons.

O'Connor has also had spells with Ilkeston Town, Scunthorpe United, Nuneaton Borough and latterly Blue Square Premier rivals Grays.

He first featured for the Stags in the 3-2 home defeat by Derby two weeks ago.

Tom Shaw (21), a midfielder, left Rushden in the summer after 50 games and has featured for the Stags since the beginning of pre-season.

Strikers Aaron O'Connor and Anthony Robinson have put pen to paper, along with central midfielder Tom Shaw and young goalkeeper Luke Herriott.

O'Connor, 19 tomorrow, has joined from Grays Athletic, where he rejected a deal at the end of last season.

Robinson, 27, comes in from Conference new-boys Kettering.

Shaw, 21, has been with the club all pre-season having previously played at Rushden.

Herriott is just 17 and has no previous club, but has been training with the Stags squad this summer.

The teenager came on as a substitute in last night's 2-0 victory at UniBond League side Matlock Town.

The deals follow the signing of goalkeeper Paddy Gamble, on loan from Forest, and left-back Alex Jeanin, previously with Oxford, earlier in the week.

The quartet are all travelling with the rest of the squad ahead of tomorrow?s match at Ebbsfleet.
