At least 2 bids on table for Stags
CHAD.co.uk, 30Jan08, by Tim Morriss

RIVAL bidders for Mansfield Town FC have made firm offers for the Stags in recent days, Chad can reveal.
At least two separate groups have tabled bids for the football club, according to Stags chief executive Stephen Booth.

He said on Tuesday: "There are some bids on the table . . . and no bid has been turned down while I have been here."

Mr Booth declined to say how many bids had been received for the Stags since he was named chief executive in December, but said it was more than one.

He also preferred not to say whether the firm offers were for just the football club, or for the club and Field Mill.

He added: "There is no timetable to conclude this, but I would like it to be as soon as possible.

"But I can't drive this forward, this has to be upto the bidders."

When he took over the day-to-day running of the Stags, Mr Booth was also charged with finding a buyer by owner Keith Haslam as the on-off takeover saga dragged into a second year. At that time he said he hoped to conclude a sale within three to six months.
