TM AND SFFC: BOYCOTT AND PROTEST AT BURY GAME

'Boycott and protest at Bury game', call to fans
CHAD.co.uk, by Tim Morriss, 6 Dec 2007
FANS groups are calling on Stags supporters to join them in a protest ahead of Saturday's match against Bury.
STAGS Fans For Change (SFFC) and TEAM Mansfield (TM) are urging supporters to boycott the game and instead join them on the banking opposite the West Stand.

The protest is the latest to be directed at owner Keith Haslam and follows his decision not to sell Mansfield Town FC to the James Derry consortium.

The two fans groups will be protesting with banners from approximately 2.15-2.30pm and said: "We urge all boycotters - old and new - to show solidarity and send a clear message to Mr Haslam."

On Tuesday Mr Haslam surprisingly stepped down as chief executive, handing over the day-to-day running of the club to chartered accountant Stephen Booth.

But SFFC said: "This makes no difference. Our message to Mr Haslam is clear - go and go now."

SFFC and TM added: "We call on all fans to boycott matches at Field Mill until Mr Haslam sells the club, though we do understand that season ticket holders may not join us.

"We call on all fans to refuse to spend any money at the club – in the club shop, at ground concessions, sponsorship etc.

"Cutting off all income streams to the club is the only language that Mr Haslam seems to understand and now this is the only resort left open to us.

"We still fully support the manager Billy Dearden and the players, but this short-term pain will be for the long-term gain of the club."
