FTYBR FC TRAVEL TO ILKESTON
1st December 2007 13:45

1 Dec 2007

Stags supporters team, FTYBR FC this weekend make the short journey to take on ASC Ilkeston Town.

With the mighty Mansfield live on BBC on the Sunday it meant either a Saturday of dreaded Christmas shopping, or a IFA fixture and a fix of football. The football easily won.

Following the controversial defeat away at Rochdale, the side will be looking to bounce back against a side who lost 4-1 at Mansfield two weeks ago.

Manager Steve Hartshorn knows that today though could be quite different,

'They looked a really good side the other week and the scoreline flattered us a little bit. The trouble is that we are down to the bare squad of just 12 players this week. It's quite frustrating really, but like professional clubs we get injuries. The only difference is that professional clubs don't lose players because they have to work or have got to baby-sit cos their Wife has gone Christmas shopping!'

There are two more games planned before the xmas break, with Bury coming to Mansfield next week and then the trip to Grimsby Town on the 15th.

'It's nice to have a break over the xmas period, but afterwards it gets really busy again with trips to Chester and a home game against Buxton. With the Spireites not having a team, Buxton are the closest so we are looking forward to taking them on for the first time early in the new year.'

'With all the trouble in and around Field Mill its nice to go around the Country and play with pride for Mansfield Town. The lads try their best for the rest of the supporters and it would be nice if a few more turned up to watch next weekend against Bury.'
Kick off Abbott Road Dec 8th 10-30 am v Bury
