Stags reserves draw at Alfreton
CHAD.co.uk, 13 Sep 2007
A MANSFIELD Town reserve side drew 0-0 with an Alfreton Town XI behind closed doors yesterday.
The clean sheet will have been a booster to Jason White and there were much-needed outings for fringe players such as Chris Wood, Danny Reet, Dan Martin, Rory Boulding and Nathan Arnold.

Ashley Kitchen made a comeback from injury and illness and suspended Lee Bell played at centre half to keep his fitness levels topped up.

"We have an understanding with Alfreton that if they can, they will put out a team to play us when we need a game which is very useful," said manager Billy Dearden.

"With not being in a reserve league it is most important to see the lads not currently in the first team get some competitive football as they have been two or three weeks without a game.

"I was very pleased with them. Alfreton put a good side out, the pitch was good and the lads enjoyed it.

"Jason did all right in goal. He has to get his confidence back which he lost a bit of the other week.

"I will probably try to organise another behind closed doors reserve game next week if I can."
