Two back, three more injured as Stags head for Matlock

YOUNGSTER Danny Sleath and Rory Boulding will both make a welcome return from injury in Mansfield Town's final pre-season friendly at Matlock Town tonight (7.45pm).
But the club continue to wait anxiously on a worrying injury list ahead of Saturday's Coca-Cola League Two opener at Brentford.

Three more knocks were picked up in Saturday's disappointing 4-0 home defeat by Huddersfield Town.

Dan Martin suffered a calf strain, Michael Boulding has a tight hamstring and Martin McIntosh has a dead leg.

All three spent today on the treatment table instead of training but McIntosh and Boulding have a better chance than Martin of making the big kick-off.

A cautious Billy Dearden will resist playing too many first teamers tonight but there will be action for John Mullins, Ashley Kitchen, Carl Muggleton, Chris Wood, Nathan Arnold and Danny Reet.

"I was going to play one or two more tonight but with the game at Brentford this Saturday I think we are going to have to tread a bit lightly for a couple of days and then build it up for Saturday," said manager Dearden.

"We have a lot of knocks at the moment but it's the same for everyone at this time of year and you just have to get on with it."

Martin out of friendly

STAGS' summer signing Dan Martin is out of Monday's friendly at Matlock Town.
Martin limped off early into the four-goal defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town yesterday.

Afterwards manager Bill Dearden said the midfielder, signed from Notts County, was withdrawn as a precaution with a calf strain, but would definitely not play at Matlock.

Dearden added that it was too early to say whether or not the youngster would be part of the squad at Brentford for the start of the Football League season on Saturday.
