Stags waiting on Bell decision
CHAD website, 26 July 2007 By John Lomas WITH the new season only just over a fortnight away, Mansfield manager Billy Dearden today admitted he may have to press midfielder Lee Bell to make a decision over joining the club as time is running out to look elsewhere. Stags are short in the central midfield department and the 24-year-old former Crewe player was offered a deal to mull over this week after impressing in pre-season training. But he had not come back to Dearden with an answer by the start of training this morning and Dearden said: "I will have to ask Lee for a final decision soon. "He must make his mind up quickly in case we have to look elsewhere. "I have to be a little patient but we can't wait long. "I have made some enquiries and like many other managers right now I am just waiting on a couple of phone calls. "It may be I take a player on a long term loan as one or two I have asked about, their clubs won't let them go on a permanent basis. "We haven't the biggest squad and once you start playing pre-season games you start picking up bits and bobs on the injury front. "You get a couple back and lose a couple more." Jake Buxton and Danny Sleath missed training today with tight hamstrings. |
