BOSS FINES HIMSELF!!
16th August 2002 13:26

Mansfield manager Stuart Watkiss is to fine himself after being sent off during the defeat by Wigan.
Watkiss was dismissed from the dug-out for disputing one of referee Paul Robinson's decisions during the 3-2 loss in the Division Two clash.

Midfielder Scott Sellars was also given his marching orders for violent conduct.

I've definitely learned from it and that won't happen again

And Watkiss insisted he was implementing the self-imposed punishment in a bid to restrain himself in future.

"I'm ashamed of my actions and how I reacted," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"I'm obviously going to face an FA fine as well.

"I should not have reacted like I did and I hold my hands up. I'll have to take the punishment they dish out to me but what really annoyed me about it - and I'm furious with myself for it - is the fact that it stopped me doing my job.

"When you sit at the back of the massive stand at the JJB Stadium and in the directors box it stops you from getting involved and being in the thick of the action.

"I've definitely learned from it and that won't happen again. But referees and officials drive you up the wall don't they?"
