BAP SIGNS NEW THREE YEAR DEAL
2nd July 2007 20:19

02 JULY 2007
manfieldtown.net exclusively reveals that Alex John-Baptiste has signed a new contract which will keep him at Field Mill until June 2010.
The 21 year old has finally put pen to paper after months of speculation over his future.
The young defender has played well over 150 times for us and started in every single match last season.
Bap briefly commented: "Naturally I want to play at a higher leve, and I've re-signed in the belief that we will be challenging next season."

Stags star signs new deal

THERE was good news for Stags fans today as star central defender Alex John-Baptiste finally signed a new three-year deal at Field Mill.
The 21-year-old was out of contract and expected to be snapped up, but no other club were prepared to take the gamble on what they might have to pay for him at a transfer tribunal.

Their loss is Mansfield's gain as John-Baptiste, who made his debut for the club at 17, will now add to his 167 appearances in the Blue and Amber after completing last season as an ever present.

Stags have already signed experienced central defender Martin McIntosh from Huddersfield Town and skipper Jake Buxton is still under contract.

John-Baptiste's signature more than makes up for the disappointment last week when towering centre half Ben Futcher opted to join Bury instead of Stags.
